Hello all! Today I’m linking up with Shay and Erika for their monthly installment of Workin’ It Wednesday. Todays topic is “Keeping your kids entertained all Summer!”
Well, let me tell you this has been my mission this Summer. To keep busy with as much fun as we can afford! With the girls being 4 1/2 and 2 they are at perfect ages to get out and do fun things around town and although they both nap, I don’t feel super constrained by their nap times either. Leaving lots of time for FUN!
So, what am I doing to keep my kids busy? Well, lots of things! Last week I took the girls to Naper Settlement, its a local museum of sort in our town that talks about the towns history and those who first settled in Naperville and what they used to do and make. A lot of the history stuff was over the girls heads, but I LOVED it! I’m a total nerd about history type stuff so I was so excited to finally do this. It also had a story time for the kids that morning and they have a little splash pad and play scape. So, I got the history lesson I wanted and the girls got to play in the water and I packed a little lunch for them. It worked out perfect, and best of all is its FREE for residents (what what!!). I mean good FREE fun, is the best kind right?
The very next day I took the girls to the gym and got my workout in and then we went swimming at the gym pool. It was a beautiful day and we ended up running into friends and having lunch as well. I plan to do LOTS of this this Summer!
For Aubrey’s birthday this year we got her a blow up pool so with the 90+ degree weather we are having, this weekend was the perfect time to try it out. The girls LOVED it!! And so did Wrigley 😉 You can find it here on Amazon.
Those are the things I am doing so far to keep my kids busy. This week we are headed to Michigan to visit family and the girls are going to be staying a week! I will be kidless for a whole week!! AHHH!! I am so pumped, I don’t even know what to do with myself. Actually, I do… lots of time visiting friends, working out, etc.
When we get back though, Madelyn is enrolled in 3 week-long Summer Camps and I am planning on looking into some of the other fun things there is to do in our town. There are a lot of concerts and movies in the park and our town’s annual RibFest is over 4th of July weekend so we plan on taking the kids this year.
So far, we are having a very fun Summer and bonus…Madelyn has been napping almost every day! Napping kids = happy Mama!! What are you guys doing to keep your kids busy this Summer? I love more ideas of things to do locally or not. If you missed my post on planning for Summer Vacation and some of our “Summer Bucket List” items you can check it out here.
